C.W. TKD KIDS TEAM EXCEPTIONAL AT THE NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

The C.W. TKD kids team posted 12 wins and 1 loss at the New England Championships on Oct. 20.  Among notables were Mike Sloan, who showed great patience against an exceptionally skilled opponent during his gold medal match.  Ping Liu, who entered both the children and adult sparring competitions, took gold in both her divisions.  Kamal Naeem, who had three tough matches against bigger and stronger opponents, proved that size and strength do not matter to skill and determination as he took gold in his division.  Everyone placed in poomse competition, with Edan, Drew, Shahid, and Shaina all taking gold.

On Saturday, March 24th, nearly 30 children competed in the poomse competition in preparation for the upcoming belt test.
From white belt Alex Giroux to black belt Shahid Naeem, the children demonstrated power, poise, and positive attitude.  At the end of the first round of competition, the winners from each of the 15 divisions were declared.  It then came time to determine the grand champions at both the beginner and advanced levels, who would each take home a trophy.  Once again the finalists brought out their best, challenging each other to perform better and at the same time, making things very difficult for the judges.  In the end, the scores were so close that the winners of both trophies had to be determined through tie-breakers!
